‘Independent Exit Interviews’

Capturing feedback from departing employees can provide valuable insights into more than their ‘apparent’ reason for leaving!

Undertaken by an independent, skilled and experienced interviewer and supported by user friendly, quick to use technology, the interview can deliver more meaning and greater value in several areas:

  • specific reasons for the employee leaving and other contributing factors
  • reflection on the organisation culture
  • leadership and management style and practice underlying trends and issues

Using a combination of online surveys that take between six and ten minutes to complete and a fifteen minute telephone interview ‘Independent Exit Interviews’ gain more valuable, frank and truthful feedback than those conducted by in-house staff.

The ‘Independent Exit Interview’ ‘standard’ survey can be modified to reflect organisational culture and language.

Using the survey feedback as a base the interviewer uses skilled questioning techniques to reveal further insight and to uncover true feelings and issues.

realworldmanagement Independent Exit Interviews are offered in two modes:

cumulative results (confidential feedback)

  • individual is made aware that their feedback will be collated with that of at least five other leavers
  • this approach is re-assuring to the individual and will drive more truthful and frank responses
  • results are collated and fed back to the organisation on an agreed periodic basis

One-off ‘open’ feedback

  • Individual interviews
  • Leaver informed that their specific feedback will go direct to the organisation
